No!. What you have to understand is that in the second that you are conceived GOD put in motion a plan for your whole life, The good and the bad, as it is said, God won't give you more than you can handle in your lifetime!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't read books of ancient wisdom anymore; if they have figured so much out, why are people still puzzling over the same questions they supposedly answered, thousands of years later!.!.!. they may have been good answers then, but they're not now!.

What the word "random" generally means, even in mathematics, is that an outcome is unknown; that you have no way of predicting how it will turn out!. If something is totally random, you don't even have a clue about the odds of any particular outcome!.

So in that sense, everything that happens that you had no reason to expect or not expect, is random!. What you know will happen is not!.

Randomness is not a quality that an event itself has, rather it's determined by whether you know anything about what might influence how the event turns out!.

Take the roll of a die after it has left a person's hand!. Say it's, maybe, 5 feet up!. You will have no way of predicting how it will end up, so it's random to you!. But imagine a clever programmer has set up a supercomputer with a high-definition video camera, which tracks the position, trajectory, and rotational momentum of the die, and using basic newtonian physics is able with its lighting quick calculations to figure out with a high degree of certainty that the die will end up on 5!. It could tell you on its screen that it's more than 95 percent probable the roll will be a 5!. The event is no longer a random event to this computer, after it has left the hand that throws it!.

If you look at the computer screen before it lands, it's not random to you anymore either, if you don't look, it still is!.

So, in a sense, almost everything is random to someone, at least to whoever doesn't know what to expect!. Some thing's aren't random to anybody, such as the sunrise (maybe that's random to little babies I guess) Most things are random to some people, and not random to other people!.

There are a few things that are random to everyone, I guess, but not the type of things you mentioned!. The parents you were born to!? Your parents had a pretty good idea that might happen!. The partners you pick!? Most people have at least some instinct as to how they approach decisions!. People you meet!? I bet you meet more people from your country than from Bangladesh (unless you are from Bangladesh)!.

If you mean, do I think there is someone else who knows everything and is controlling events of your life, I would advise not going there!. It usually leads to either paranoia or religion!. If you turn to religion, you have forsaken philosophy!. (religious philosophy is called theology)

>edit< this is the philosophy section!.!.!. why do so many people confuse religion and theology with philosophy!.!.!.

There is no "second" or even "moment" of conception either!. It takes quite a while for a sperm to do its deed and dna recombination to take place!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It's hard to say!. There are two major schools of thought on this!. One school believes that the Universe contains too many examples of apparently purposeful patterns to be considered random!. The other believes that the Universe is a vast system consisting of an immense number of variables capable of combining to form what only appear to be purposeful patterns!.

I tend to fall somewhere in the middle!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

According to the Ancient Vedic wisdom which are the original "How to" books given by the creator at the time of creatio!. all we are coming in contact with now is based on our past Karma (action and reaction) So we got the parents we have now and the belief system we where taugth due to our past life actions and desires!.
We are not this material body, IE; Race, color, nationality, Religion, mind, intellect, senses, job, etc!. We are all eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul, also known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu, etc!. We never die, only this mortal body dies!. This material world is not our real home, it is called Maya (illusion) and is temporary and full of misery, only one fourth of the souls come here, and the rest are enjoying blissful eternal loving relationships with our Maker named above!. We fell here due to envying Gods position!. He made the material world for those who want to try to live separately from Him (Which is impossible because He is actually everywhere)!. After many lifetimes of trying to be happy in this temporary world, one becomes frustrated and board and begins to question their existence!. We then seek out real happiness, and when one becomes sincere God reveals how to come back Home!. Those who are intelligent, take up the process of self realization (Bhakti Yoga), which begins with the chanting of the Maha Mantra, (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion), which gives one real peace, happiness and reality!. (see my profile for a link for all info on this mantra)!. Then at the end of life, they can give up all material attachments and fully surrender to God and return to the eternal Kingdom, where there is no more birth, death, old age, or disease and be eternally happy!. I belive GOD chose my parents and family!. He is the creator and author of my life!. Therefore I believe that he is in control of everything that occurs in my life, aside from the times I get in his ways!.!.!.but then being he is all knowing he new when I would do such things!.

No!. I believe that all possible outcomes are equally possible and that each one of them is chosen in an infinitely parallel set of universes!. I also believe that there are an infinite number of 'copies' of each of us inhabiting those parallel realities!.
But that's pretty deep quantum mechanics and consciousness theory for most people ?
