Have you ever seen the movie Amistad!? There is a critical point near the end of the film where the main/slave character states something like " I do not stand alone, I am the culmination of all of my ancestors that came before me - I am here because they survived and lived allowing me to be here now" I am not only a survivor - I am the culmination of countless generations of survivors - I stand for them, and with them, as a witness and testimony to hope, faith, and determination!.Www@QuestionHome@Com there is no doubt that i am a survivor!! i have triumphed over my own cancer at the age of 24 and now at age 45 i am caring for my mother who has cancer!. the last week i have found out that my 21 year old daughter who just graduated from college in May 2008 has a pre-cancerous condition!. this is all starting to seem like a sick joke, but i keep taking it day by day as that is all i can do!. find peace and light in the small everyday details of life!. it may be all there is to keep you sane on a particular day!. even on a hopeless day focus on the clear, refreshing breeze, the delicious smell of cooking food or the sound of raindrops on leaves!. look to appreciate the small things because that is what makes up the day by day currency of life!. gee, i did not mention i have raised two daughters by myself since they were 3 and 1 years old, dealt with my alcoholic, depressive father all my life and have suffered chronic pain for over 15 years after being permanently injured while working at a maximum security psychiatric facility!? my life seems like a marathon through hell sometimes, but i know no matter what i am enduring there is always someone who has it worse than i do!. this is what i think about to gain perspective on my own situation!. for example, there is a woman i know who gets chemotherapy where my mother gets hers!. this woman has diabetes and associated kidney issues, multiple sclerosis and cancer!!! still she has a smile on her face!. if she can cope and be pleasant than so can most anyone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com I suppose that I am !. I survived being run over by a car from which I had incurred quite a bit of brain damage, being shot in the leg by my sister(accident), racing through a barbed wire fence on a sled almost losing my eye but now I have a scar that adds character ahnd makes me look ruggedly handsome, the death of my father when I was 14(my parents were divorced and I roomed with him until I found his lifeless body with a ribbon of vomi9t streaming from his mouth down his chest!. also I survuved a crazy man with a shotgun shells chambered pointing at me threatening to blow off my head!. Yes, I suppose that I am a survivor!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Sadly, yes!. Ive been told Many times that im a survivor, and it is a sad reality!. A survivor is someone who is just holding in there, someone who breathes, who moves, but not a real liver!. A liver is someone who grabs hold of life and doesnt let it slip away, a liver is someone who does what they want, someone who does what they want and doesnt let anyone tell them otherwise!. To be a survivor is to have a passion inside you to nerver give up!. Even when all seems hopeless the desire to provail and rise above seemingly unsermountable odds!. Even when all hope is gone the will to move forward remains!. Then, after the storm has passed, the dust has settled, you remain standing!. In the sense of the question, no I am not a suvivor, I live to live, not survive to live!. The things I considered threats are bare minium at this point, and I don't have to work hard to live, and I have ample supply and thought to live in a rest state!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com Yes, I am a survivor of a communist terror war!. I am a survivor of a ruptured ectopic pregnancy!. I am a survivor of a bad horse fall where I damaged my cervical vertebra and had concussion!. I am a survivor of a physically violent marriage!.
