Descartes did not consider "I think therefore I am" to be the basis for any philosophy!. He merely examined the proposition and found it mostly faulty!.

Anyway, neither of your propositions is logically valid, regardless of whether any of their components are true or not!.

That you think doesn't logically imply you exist (as Descartes observed, either "there are thoughts," which could be thought by anybody, or else you presuppose your existence by saying "I think" in the first place)

And that you exist doesn't imply that you think, either, as any lobotomized person or skilled meditator can confirm!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Lots of "you's" in life cannot think, they're in comas, they are mentally gone, they suffer from mentally debilitating disease ravaged minds!.
Infants are "you's", but they cannot think at birth, they can only react!.

"You think therefore you are"!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!. wrong!. My mother suffered from alzheimer's disease and didn't have a rational thought in her head but she was still a person even though her mind was gone!.

You are, simply because you are!. When your body fails, then you are no longer a "you", no longer a human person!. Who you are, is gone!.
