Question: Paley's Teleological argument for design!?
Ok i fully understand the concept and meaning of Paley's argument, but what was he implying when he said "the universe resembles human artefacts"!?!?

I'm guessing that by "the universe resembles human artifacts" Paley is suggesting that because humans can identify purpose in nature, this is analogous to things that are designed by humans (artifacts)!. Remember that Paley was a theologian first and a philosopher second!. Because of this, it is clear that his hierarchy of consciousness or intelligence goes from God to humans and then to nature!. I, and I'm sure many people today would also, disagree with Paley's assertion that nature conforms to human understanding, and instead believe it to be the other way around!.
