As the old saying goes "every cloud has a silver lining"!. It means that even if things haven't exactly worked out for the best at this present moment, there may be a reason why it hasn't and that in the future you may just get a better reward that will be worth the wait!. Clouds are miserable and grey, by saying that they have a silver lining, it denotes that something good can come out of the misery eventually!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is actually silver dioxide!. In Australia, where I live, we have functioning ski fields!. Unfortunately, due to our weather patterns the snow is somewhat unreliable, so we fly aeroplanes and pump silver into the clouds to promote rain to freeze and fall as snow!. IT WORKS!!! I know your question was philosophical, but I'm going with the reality!. The silver lining really does exist and each winter it brings me immense joy as I see my backyard transformed into a winter wonderland, that means that more people come and visit to ski, I get more work, which means more money and more money means more nights out and more to eat - so I'm happy!. That's my silver lining!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
