Question: Is management a bit fake !?

Supposedly management can be applied to any discipline!.

In retrospect we see that management was inadequate!. For example Mt Erebus acccident!.

Hopefully management theory improves, so that a Mt Erebus accident is now less likely!.

Essentially Mt Erebus passengers were guinea pigs in the pursuit of a brave new management theory!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

There are a number of different management theories or philosophies, but ultimately everything is either managed in some way or left to chance!. An accident occurs by chance!. A management disaster is caused by negligence, The 1979 Mt!. Erebus incident was a collection of mismanagement steps, starting with the idea that a pilot unfamiliar with the route could fly it without difficulty!. Then there was a change in the coordinates to be entered into the plane's computer, notice of which was never given to the pilot!. Then the pilot assumed everything was OK, so he could fly lower than the lowest acceptable altitude!. He also apparently relied on the autopilot and was not looking out the front windshield of the plane just in case!. This concatenation of stupid acts led to the disaster!. It was not caused by any management theory that recognizes Murphy's Law: anything that can go wrong, will!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Efficient management relies on funding!. As with everything money moves mountains!. As weve seen with the earthquake disaster and the inadequately built schoolhouse in China!. The management behind the built industry cut financial corners!. If that management took it's instructions from government or shareholders, ultimately East or West, it's finance that determines the process from beginning to end!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
