Question: Which is more valuable to society, safety or freedom!?
Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
The safety to enjoy its freedom!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

In any society or situation, that which is scarce is what is valued!. In cases of danger, safety is paramount!. When freedom is curtailed, it is much coveted!.

Given a "neutral" situation, safety is important if you want to live longer, protect your loved ones, and not be afraid of foe or disease!. Freedom is valuable to those who want to act, say, do what they want in their lifetime!. For safety and freedom to co-exist in a society, these should not be given to those who are a danger or a threat to others!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Freedom is a vicious word!. Freedom means something different for everyone and it can be easily used to fanatise people!. I think that freedom should always be controlled to some extent!. For example it should be controlled (and probably will be in the near future) that how many children you can have, how much energy, water and food you can consume!. Because there is no freedom without safety!. Are we safe nowadays!? Do you feel safe to walk alone in the streets at night!? Is it safe to let your children go to school alone!? Do you feel safe to leave your door unlocked for the night!? Sometimes I think of poor Madelaine!. If this is the price of freedom, then I don't need it!.

EDIT: hmmm you've got someone who really doesn't like you!. be careful, you may die of thumbs-down-poisoning!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

All must be valued equally!. Freedom is an ongoing project that needs to be nurtured and developed!. The following is some commentary I wrote on Goethe's Faust:

Faust was ambitious, and as such, he set himself an ambitious task—to create a free country for free people!. “The deed is all, the glory not,” became his battle cry!. He was faced with a very difficult problem: How do you free people who don’t want to be free!? Faust knew that “freedom talk” was cheap!. People always wanted security more than freedom!. With his solution to the problem, Faust showed genius!. His solution would not only make people appreciate freedom, it would also provide them with the conditions necessary to preserve that freedom!.

For Faust, further benefits, unbeknownst to the people, would transpire!. By securing land from the sea, by orchestrating a system of dykes and dyke maintenance, the conditions would be put in place that would not only permit freedom— it would demand it!. Ultimately, the hard work and vigilance necessary to see such a major project through to completion would teach people that life and freedom were to be equally valued!. Faust knew that freedom was never free!. Teaching that lesson to others was his great success, and a free land for free people was his great vision realized!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

if you fear a strong opinion close your eyes!!!

Good, now the idea of people giving up their personal freedoms for their safety is just sickening!. to believe that people will become slaves to entertain the idea that a person or group of people can stop life's one great truth is idiotic and should be put to rest!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Freedom, because if we didn't have that, we wouldn't really be a society!. And anyways, life has no guarantee of safety for anyone!. People have to suck it up and realize that you can't be safe forever!. At some point you will have to leave and face the danger of the real world!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
