Yes, they do have the potential to do so!. I have experienced that!. You see, they do have the potential to change the society and their ideas are very creative and unique!. But just having the potential is not enough!. There are many people in the society who are conservatives and do not want a new change in the system!. Some are jealous of the unique ideas!. It happened with me when I tried to make Social Science interesting for students with my teacher!. I suggested to include creative activities, but students opposed me, and the system was soon stopped!. They began the old system again!. So, intellectual people do have the potential to change the society, but the change depends on some factors, and the most important is the thinking of the people!. Many political leaders who brought a drastic change in the countries were those who thought different and who wanted a change in the society!. Hence, the intellectuals have the potential but this potential turns to change only when the society agrees to it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Do they have the potential!? Yes!.
Can simply being intellectual change a society!? No!.
They can intellectualize all they want and make suggestions and point others in the direction of peace, harmony and well-being for the general god of all, but humans are imperfect beings!. Along with that comes disharmony, disagreement and discord!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

That is precisely what the men of the Renaissance did!. They were true intellectuals!. The last generation of such men were those who signed the Declaration of Independence!. Those who drafted were the Constitution were a mix of the Renaissance men and the men who would come after them!. Men and women with no background in the disciplines that made the Renaissance are "what came after them," and look at the state of America and the western world in general now!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
