It just perpetuates the madness and turns you into someone you're not as you're bitter at that moment in time!. You do and say crazy things and you'll be remembered for that act alone for a long time to come!. It makes you feel rotten afterwards as you wasted energy on something that wasnt worth it in the end!.

As for karma!?!? I have mixed feelings on this - i believe that its the INTENTION behind the action which will affect whether it comes back to you in a good or bad way or not!.!.!.!.!. i!.e!. if revenge is taken to hurt someone and try and destroy them then dont expect a karmic pat on the back but if you did something which enabled you to gain information or insight into someones motives then you will simply be confirming the wrongdoing and will be better equipped to move on!.!.!.!.!.

Revenge is bad because you could get sued and go to jail for the rest of your life!. I think of this every time I hear the song about a woman trashing her ex- boyfriend's car for cheating on him!. Maybe he will think next time before he cheats, but she won't be there to watch because she will be in jail and paying lots of money!. Revenge can make the victim feel less like a fool but only if the victim does not get caught!. The victim shouldn't do something to the person that is against the law!. Revenge can also take up a lot of the victim's time and energy!. If the victim plays games with a real jerk, the jerk might seek vengeance, and the cycle could go on forever!. It is best if the victim can just get away from the mean person and find nicer friends!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Most reasoning tend to argue that it leads to a cycle effect of negative behavior!.
But I often find myself thinking just what is punishment in the justice system if not revenge for a wrong or wrongs committed to the a society with laws that govern how one is to behave!?
So what exactly is revenge and how is it different from punishment!?

It leaves a sour taste in your mouth that never goes away!. It stays there hidden and every once in a while it comes out of your taste buds unbidden and you remember the a** you've made of yourself all for a little "revenge"!. It stays with you till your deathbed!.

The main reason is that it never ends the issue, and it can continue to escalate!.

Someone steals your property, so you burn down their house in revenge!. They kill you in revenge, so your family murders them in revenge!.
