Question: What does it mean to be in a relationship!?
If it is understood that they love each other, then why are there fights!? Why is there emotional pain and stress, shouldn't everything be good with your "significant other"!? Why do we choose to become jealous, possessing, angry or frustrated with our loved one!? Does anyone else find it weird that relationships could bring out the worst in someone!?

It isn't weird at all!. Intimacy means knowing someone deeply -- and that invariably means knowing the worst about him/her as well as the best!. The worst sometimes will drive you crazy!. That brings out the worst in you!. Which will drive him/her crazy!. Repeat!.

If you love someone and you expect him/her to love you, then everything he/she does takes on added meaning!. A slight, or an unkind word, from someone you care about hurts ten times as much as the same unkind word from a stranger!. Those we love can bring us great joy, but they can also hurt us more deeply, than anyone else!.

Building a relationship means learning to live within these things and finding ways to navigate them!. It takes *years* to do it well!.

Here's a quotation I heard many years ago, that may make you smile:

* You know it's INFATUATION -- when you spend a lot of time talking about love!.
*You know it's LOVE -- when you spend a lot of time talking about your relationship!.
*You know it's a RELATIONSHIP -- when you spend a lot of time talking about your weight!.
