It all depends on the situation which one is in, emotional thinking is often good for situation in which one has little time or information with which to make a decision, and can sometimes save ones life!.
However on the other hand, by applying logic base on passed knowledge, one can (with time) understand greater complexities , and add to one's knowledge and therefore increase the logical thinking capacity!. (This also can save ones life)

It is also important to understand that often emotion is just unconscious (or subconscious) logic!.

The two forms of brain processing are both fundamental, and a balanced person will try to use both in a way which complements each other!. i!.e!. Feeling something and then understanding that feeling helps us to know ourselves and then of course others!
Yin without Yang is never a whole!

These are in fact just two levels of information processing, and the words logic and emotion are those which we have given them!.

There is often talk of the logical left hemisphere and the emotional right, But this may in fact just be more of a difference in the information which is processed, that is if one looks at the Big picture or at the little picture!

Oh just one after thought, does a computer use logic or emotion! in the sense that it does not think but reacts on physical (transistors are switches) and chemical (electrical) impulses, the same could be argued for an ant!

A great deal of that depends on the individual!. Emotions are certainly a very powerful force!. I remember a Physics Prof!. who used to say that 90 percent of all human advancement could be traced to someone saying "I'll show those sons of bitches!." But it's not usually (in most cases) a terribly productive force (as the above example cursing the rock shows)!.

from personal experience i can say that my emotions can often out weigh my logical thinking!.

for example when i walk around shops i may see some shoes, i like them, the thought of buying them makes me feel happy, i know that i really don't need them and should not spend money on them!. but then the emotion takes over and logic is out of the window!. untill the next day when i realise what i have done!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Its just that powers of emotions are far more easier to succumb to than that of logic!.Having to actually think and ponder on a situation or just let go and go with your emotions!.Most wont push for logic because of the amount of thought it requires,why not just let what comes naturally to us sway our thought process!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
