Without the attachments of family to support, nurture, etc!. and/or the stresses of family life, ones energies might be more directed towards becoming consciously aware and thereby learning to be compassionate, with loving kindness towards all that is!.
IN this way, such may be seen as a blessing however, every thing has two sides!.
One misses the joys of family life, the love of ones child and the learning opportunities and experiences that the same offers!.
Best to follow that path to which one is called by the truth inside ones self!.
Maybe live as celibate for a while, then marry!.!.!.
Maybe marry and later retire to monastery!.!.!.!.

A celibate person has no chance of contracting a sexually transmitted disease, at least!

But I suppose you mean 'spiritually'!. In that case, there is no definite advantage or disadvantage, it is just a personal choice!. I would argue that, unless someone has tried sex and not enjoyed it, they should not become celibate!. It is more positive to say 'I will do something' than 'I will not do something'!. So, unless you have a good reason, don't become celibate!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
