i used to always wish that there would be some big thing that could keep me forever believing in humanity, like religion or some profound event that happened to me or that i accomplished
and so far, there's nothing yet!. so instead, and this doesn't always work, i rely bigtime on the very small insignificant things that people do for one another that make an impact!. it sounds like the biggest cliche (no, i think it IZ a cliche) but when someone does something small, like remind someone to bring in a spanish dictionary, or touch someone on the arm and say good luck on exams, and it seems clear that there is no other intention than the incredibly selfless and honorable one!. i used to read chicken soup for the soul and let that renew all faith in humanity because i let every story break my heart into pieces, but then i needed bigger doses of it every time
and i still kind of do, which is why it doesn't always work!. like each time i experience one of those little things, i try to remember it hard so i can rely on it when i actually have no faith at all, but each time it has to be a bigger deal to overcome the cynicism wall!.
but also when people just do dumb things for themselves, like when someone goes and gets ice cream just for her one day, i like that too, somehow!.

It helps to stop watching the news and take a vacation with the ones you love

I'll never have faith in humanity, but I have seen evidence that humanity has value and can go forward - unfortunately there's evidence in the other direction also!.
