It means exactly what the meaning of life means!. You asked it because you wanted to and because you believe you have the freedom to do so, regardless of what the others would think about what you think in asking the question, or how you would react to other people's reactions!. I believe it is the length of time that what ever it is exists as its original state!.
for example - is a rock life - until it is worn away to sand
or a life time warranty on a car muffler the life of the muffler or car - and when does a car die - when it doesn't start or when its been left to rust in a field, or when it's steel has been recycled (re birth)
How about cotton - when does it's life end!. After it has been woven into material - or when the cotton has been picked from the plant!.
Recycling, composting, re incarnation, all pose questions to the meaning of life -
