Question: In what ways is the Nietzchean Superman different from the Superman we all know and love!?
Granted, both ideas have morphed from their original form!.
Nietzche had his ideas mangled a generation later as a justification for racism and eugenics!.
The original Siegel and Schuster Superman morphed from the personification of FDR style liberalism into the current form!.
And I love the recent Animated Superman!. BUT, Lois says something in one of the early episodes!.
She say that this new Man of Steel is the Nietzchean ideal personified!. Or words to that effect!.
How accurate is that statement by Lois Lane!?
But in what ways are the two different in your opinion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I don't think Kal-El has ever gotten really close to overcoming himself!. To be a Nietzschean overman he still has one thing to get over, and that is Pity!. And lets not forget all that angst and forlorness he's carrying around with Krypton gone!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not an inquiry!. This much is obvious: your hackneyed survey is typical of the low standard set by the self-satisfied bourgeois!. To despise all the presuppositions that lie behind this survey is a way toward actual inquiry and an approach to Nietzsche!.

First, let us be disgusted by this spectatorial survey nonsense, as it fills up, along with cartoons, periodical reading, and concern for toilet routine, the bourgeois meanwhile, the anxious pause in his/her small, compromised, existence when the meal is finished but there are no customers for fleecing in the emporium!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I am George W!. Bush and I approve this question!.

Superman (as in Lois-Lane-Superman-Superman) is white, tall, strong and powerful - stuff Nietzsche would have been down with (some people question whether Nietzsche was actually racist - going by his books, which is all I really know about him, he was)!.

But, maybe Superman was a little too concerned about other people!.

EDIT: TR, Nietzsche very much appears to be racist!. Ctrl + F on http://www!.mala!.bc!.ca/~johnstoi/Nietzsch!.!.!. and find what he says about "jew"!. Maybe the guy himself was not racist - I've heard his sister edited the books afterwards - but his published works suggest racism!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Superman, according to Nietzsche has reached a state of being where he is no longer affected by "pity, suffering, tolerance of the weak, the power of the soul over the body, the belief in an afterlife,
The Animated superman qualities almost the opposite!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

"Not an inquiry!. This much is obvious: your hackneyed survey is typical of the low standard set by the self-satisfied bourgeois!.!?!!?"
WTF!?
Like "Is Mama in the backyard learning how to jive and wail" is an in depth philosophical inquiry!.
Cretins like Von Higgins are the kind of pendants any sane person will ignor! Me, I'm bat s h i t crazy! So I'll call a pedantic moron a pedantic moron!
I think the writers of the Animated Superman were trying to establish a depth of though for Lois' character with that line!.
If the line reveals anything, it's that Lois Lane doesn't understand Nietzchean philosophy!. If she did she'd stop putting herself in constant danger and move the hell out of Metropolis!.
Superman IS the personification of the FDR style liberalism! And I can't say that the two philosophies are opposites!. But I think it's safe to say they are not connected!Www@QuestionHome@Com

Otago I can assure you that Nietzsche was not racist and that's clear in his books!. Large sections of the Gay Science contains praise for the Chinese and even for Jewish culture as one with life-affirming qualities rather than German culture which he saw as stagnant!.

Otago: It is the tone of Nietzsche's polemic that makes him seem like a racist to modern eyes and ears!. Throughout the 'Antichrist' he makes the same reference to the Jews, but his target is cultural traits and in particular cultural traits pertaining to weakness!. He writes equally of (then) modern day Germany, but one could hardly call that racism!. His aim is to trace the origins of (the much hated) christian morality and he finds this in a part of Jewish culture!. A casual reading of Nietzsche always makes it seem that he is a prototypical Eurocentric Nazi, but his concern is never really 'blood' or race, but foundations of cultural morality!. Being a rather vicious intellectual he chose a biting polemic style!.
It's also important to note his gradual shedding of Wagnerian silliness, something he achieved by the time of the Gay Science!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
