In philosophical circles, he's not underrated at all!. And it's impossible to overrate his importance on the following two-and-a-half millenia of philosophical thought!.

I think at times he gets overrated, in sense a lot of philosophers do!.

I respect the ancients, but you have to compare them to their time and realize they aren't in the same league as you can say Friedrich N!., they were beginning steps if you ask me!.
I think a lot of them expressed ideas, in beautiful words, about conclusions I've came to on my own!.

But I haven't read all their work, so this is just my opinion for what I read so far!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

underrated!? not at all!. i think the three most well known philosophers are socrates, aristotle, and plato, and socrates taught plato and plato taught aristotle, so socrates was the first!. if you google him, there are almost 30 million sites for him!. i don't think he's underrated at all!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

He's overrated!. His influence was massive, sure, but he was pretty ordinary!.
