Question: Is online pesona a true reflection of ones character!?
I posted this about 20 minutes ago, but realised it was worded terribly ;)!. So - take two!

Alot of people seem to become someone else online!. Forceful, blunt, arrogant, aggresive, abusive etc!.

Does the internet allow for ones true character to shine through!? True character being your persona if it were not influenced by social factors!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

The persona people TRY to portray with profiles and pictures is usually pretty fake!. Always putting their best foot forward!.!.!.

BUT

The persona you see when you chat with someone or hear their opinions and read their words!.!.!. that is usually their true selves!. People cant stop being who they are!.!.!. and who they are will shine through

===

Dont take what they say about themselves for gospel!. Even in chat!. Because that can be just as faked and forced as any person in real life, talking in person!. But observe their behavior!.!.!. their inconsistencies!.

Because online people are less inhibited and fearful of judgment!. Its the people in person, in real life, that hold their tongue and cautiously test your reaction before admitting to attribute!. In person you have more to fear and more to loseWww@QuestionHome@Com

What I have learned is that internet can reflect what's lying inside of individual characters!. In offline world, people are limited with many life norms, rules, etc!. While in online world, they feel freer to express themselves!. As you said, they can be forceful, blunt, arrogant, etc!. In the opposite, they also can be sweet, nice, lovely (perhaps they are not confident enough, too shy, in the offline world that they are actually a nice person)Www@QuestionHome@Com

I think a persona is created more by another person's perception of you rather than the things you do or say to express yourself!. When I type words upon this little keyboard, you read them as if you were reading a book, and your mind becomes filled with images and ideas (or my persona, if you will)!. And yet, perhaps these images and ideas are far from what I intended!.

In short, I believe the writer can portray his/her true self online, but without ever truly meeting the audience, it's rarely received as such!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Some sociologists say that all of us as we go through life play a series of social roles, such as student in school, employee at work, and parent as we raise a family!.

All these roles, they insist, are dictated by the dynamics of the groups that assign us these roles and that really we have no individual identities!.

(Perhaps the only people that have true individual identities are social dropouts!.)

ha! usually not!. of course, that's different with me :-\ (::looking for approval::)
seriously though, most people use the internet as a safety buffer to be who they wish they could!.!.!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

It is possible!. People usually open up and express their true feeling if they remain anonymous!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
