Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Primarily because too many people think history began the day they were born!. Add to this, history is taught in a name and date approach rather than cause and effect!. Add to this a certain arrogance each subsequent generation has that they are too sophisticated to be misled and before you know it the question of the day becomes, "Where are we going and what are we doing in this hand-basket!?"!. *Www@QuestionHome@Com History repeats because people don't pay attention the first go around!. They study it in class and they fail to understand the application to today and the teacher fails (sometimes) to explain the application for today!. The struggles of the minority for rights is a blatant repeat of history that continues to this day!. People oppressing others for their color of their skin, the way they think, how they look is something that still happens even though history proves it doesn't have a pretty outcome!. Governments failing for certain reasons are documented in history and yet governments of today are following the same path!. It's just like the saying that goes something like if you want to know what a person will do look in their past!. Past, in history of the world and people, will dictate future with a great deal of accuracy!.
