It means love (philo) of knowledge (sophy)!. But it is a curious name, such smart philosophers could have come up with something less corny!. It is believed that perhaps they used that name because in a way it threatened the status quo and authority of that time, so they prefered it over something more "uncovering of the truth"!. Philosophy does not affect my life, it is a basic need, to find the foundation of things, of my life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
