Your soul belongs to your creator, you can't get "rid of it", it's your total mind (meaning your emotions, learned experiences, your memories, rational and critical thinking, character, ego)!. In short, you have a soul!. It's your total identity and irregardless of what you think, you really do have a personality :O)) !. !. !. !. that makes you who you are inside a chunk of meat called humanity!.

Your personality is determined by the neurochemical activity in your brain!. Once you are brain dead, that is the end of your personality and identity!. You won't even know that you are dead!.

So in the Christian sense of the world "soul," the answer is that you don't have a soul!. The Christian concept of soul is nothing but a religious myth!.

No, you do not HAVE a soul; Yes, you ARE a soul!.

Originally "soul" meant what today we mean by "holism!." It was everything abut a person taken all together in a total and inseparable way!.

Somewhere along the line, some people took it over to mean something else, some "thing" we have that is super-special and is part of us but separate from us, something that will survive our death!.

To answer your sub-questions:

-- You do nothing with it, any more than you do anything with its cousin, "self!."
-- You can't "get rid of it" because there's nothing to get rid of!.!.!.it is only a linguistic convention, an abstract word used to describe something about us!.
-- Whether you want to or not, you "have" one in the sense that everyone can be described as being a totality of everything they are!.
