"Thought" is a metaphysical concept!. Therefore, it cannot be scientifically proven, because it exists outside of quantifiable phenomena!. We cannot take a thought out of someone's head, dissect it and analyze its contents!.

We can, however, link electrical phenomena in the brain to certain thoughts!. For example, patterns of electrical signals can be measured by a scan of the cerebellum!. The results of these scans would then link them to the subject of that particular thought, like food or a member of the opposite sex!. Therefore, whenever that particular pattern is repeated, one may logically infer that "This person must be thinking about 'X'!."

That is the closest we can get to proving a metaphysical phenomenon like "thought"!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

well!. most would agree that thinking is the act of taking information and making decisions on that information!.

in reality computers think!. they take information they are given and make dicisions on them based on the way their programed!. much like we make decisions based on the way we were raised and the environment we are and have been in!.

the difference there is that we have free will!. the option to ask why for no other reason than we have the ability to ask why!.

so if the question is how can it be proven!. then look at the facts!. someone hands you a ball and tells you to turn it over!. what makes you turn it over!? also!. depending on what you decide to do!.!. DO you turn it over!? now how did you come to the conclusion of weither or not to turn it over!?
