Question: Isn't it up for us to help those who can't help themselves instead of some deity!?
Yea so instead of asking a deity to help the helpless!. Isn't it up for us to help them, you know!? I'm a freethinker but I was just thinking why do people expect someone else to help them when we're here ourselves already and can do it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

I might get some flack for this, but it's my honest opinion!.

I disagree with the idea of asking a deity to do things for you or others!.

When I was a religious person (during a period in high school and by my own choosing) I heard some of the things people were praying for and it could have made me ill!. Why would anyone ask a deity to grant them the financial stability to get a new vehicle to make their lives easier!? Why would they ask a deity to step in and change the life of someone else!?

Another thing that I've seen is people, who had done bad things, blaming deeds on temptation from the devil!. What ever happened to being responsible for your actions!? Why place blame when you could have simply refrained from doing what you shouldn't have been doing in the first place!?

EDIT: You're quite welcome, and thank you for the compliment!. I enjoy answering questions!.

One conception of God is in total agreement with you, except that when we help those who can't help themselves you have to include God in the equation also!.

Feeling and freedom are codependent for Whitehead, and God is in touch with all feelings!. God is there in all suffering, but especially present in the suffering caused by injustice because that kind of suffering can be mitigated!. God is also there in all hopes, joys, and happiness!. Good feelings move the world forward to a better place!. We encounter, in good feelings, the ‘allure of realization!.’ It is possible to create a more humane, peaceful, and loving world!. Whitehead said as much, and Gandhi told us how to proceed, ‘You must be the change you want to see in the world’—both in life and love!.”Www@QuestionHome@Com

there are somethings that we can help people with and others matters where help is useless!.

most of the time it takes the person that needs the help to realize that they need help!. if they don't admit they need help its gonna be a lot harder to help them!. but it all depends on what the person needs help with!. if its an injury yeah help them if its a problem internally like depression or an addiction the person needs to realize they need help and most of the help isn't from other people it has to come within them!. and all you can do is life their spirits and give them encouragement!.

lots of people turn to a deity to help them but if the person doesn't believe in a deity then how can a deity help them!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

No one is helpless and asking some "fictitious" god to help you isn't effective anyway!. Seeing people as helpless puts them into a victim roll!. Its dis-empowering!. I think "we" need to empower people and help them to help themseves!. There is a phrase its is something like this -

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day!.!.!.!.
TEACH a man to fish and you feed him for life!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Yes!. To illustrate!.!.!.!.!.

A man was the sole survivor of a boating crash in the ocean!. He was treading water, then floating on a piece of flotsam!. His first thought was to pray!. "God, I know you work miracles!. Please come and help me!."
The first thing to show up was a rescue boat!. The men on the boat threw him a life preserver and told him to grab hold, so they could pull him in!. The man shook his head and waved them on, as he was waiting for his god to save him!.
Next, a helicopter flew by, with its rescue equipment and its harness!. The man waved them on, because he was waiting for god to save him!.
Treading water was really not working so well, and the flotsam he was holding to eventually got so water-logged it sank!. So did he!.
The dead man's soul appears before God!.
" God, why didn't you save me!?"
God said, " My foolish child, who do you think sent the boat and the helicopter!?"

God sends angels all the time to help us out of dark situations!.!.!.they usually don't have wings yet!.!.!.they are called friends!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If we are gods as Jesus said in this passage:
John 10
34Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods!?

35If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

36Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God!?

37If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not!.

then, we can tap into our true estate and potential by summoning God!. He is in us!.
John 14
20At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you!.

But you are right!. To think that God is outside of us is a sign of separation and feelings of insecurity!. It is our place to help these until they can learn that God is in them!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

One can only assume that the Deity has put us here to see if we were intelligent and caring enough to help others!.

It must be amusing to it to see us waiting for it to fulfill our purpose!.
