Question: If a tree falls in an uninhabited Forrest, with no one to hear it, does it make a sound!?
My guess is YES!. Because we know that trees make sounds when they fall!. Why should sound not exist simply because no one is there to hear it!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Sound is noise, noise exists without even one ear to hear it!. Unless that tree fell into something very soft which muted the fall it made some sound!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Of course!. If it fell I heard it!. A tree fell 1000 years ago and I heard it!. A soundwave takes x amount of time to hit your ears and so the tree that no one supposedly heard was heard!.

My friends pulled that on me cuz they know I'm like a supergenius :3 and I told em that! Thy didn't get it!.
I hope you did! :PWww@QuestionHome@Com

Unless the forest is in a vacum, I would have no reason to believe that any tree therein would be utterly silent in the event of it toppling over, and one would have to produce very hard evidence before I would entertain the notion to the contrary!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

While scientifically the answer is obviously YES, but philosophically the connotations are much deeper!.Its really a thought provoking question - congrats!Www@QuestionHome@Com

According to Bishop Berkeley, it does make a sound because God is always there to hear it!.
