Question: Would you kill one innocent life to save millions!?

I ask myself this question!. Would I randomly have one person chosen to die in exchange for a disease free world or the cure to cancer or something like that which would save millions!? I would say yes!. But then I ask myself, how about 2 innocent lives!? 10 lives!? A thousand lives!? When does the needs of many not outweigh the needs of the few!? So is it therefore wrong for even one innocent life to be sacrificed to save so many!? What do you think!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

I believe that it is a statistical problem!. Most of us would oblige to killing a fourth the amount of the people the killing would save, (e!.g!. 250,000 die for 1 million)!. Anything over that, I think, would be abnormal for the average person!. Always choose the few over the many!. Survival is the main objective in all humans!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Intellectually one would have to agree - if it was that simple!. What if this one person had the potential to save millions from a castatrophe in the future!? also emotionally it is difficult to come to a conclusion; if YOU had to be the one to kill the person, would you actually do it!? It's very complicated, but I think I can say that neither choice is WRONG!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Hey wizbangs, what if you were part of the 999,999!? How much does it cost you!? Was it worth it!? I've taken several ethics courses and the one thing that is constant is the reward is never going to be the better than the cost to someone!. So even in this hypothetical situation ( speaking strictly about the needs of the group vs!. the needs of the majority) whenever you have a group larger and making decisions for a smaller group, it is the responsibility of the larger group to protect the rights of the smaller one!. So under that rule of morality, no larger group would ever sacrifice even one individual no matter what the benefit would be for the larger group!. Sorry if that was confusing!. Now the only way to make the moral decision easier, was if the minority was too sacrifice himself willingly to benefit the majority!. (something like a buddy falling on a grenade) The majority would never have the right to throw someone on the grenade!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

this is a very difficult question!.!.!.because you wouldn't want to kill some innocent person, but then again you could get rid of cancer, or a disease free world!. that sucks too, because if they weren't innocent then i wouldn't mind 'getting rid of ' the very, very mean/bad people in this world!. i don't really have an answer, only an opinion!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no who is to choose that killing one will save many how is one life less then any other!. the army has this philosophy of kill a few and save many!. actually the only way i would kill one to save many is if that person volunteers and everyone that has met or might be influenced by that person say to do it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

How about this!? each person is priceless and so it would be worthless to put a price on their heads so 1 life for 100, 1,000 etc would be an unfair choice i mean what if that random person was you!? and someone else had to make that choice would you want to die for the good of the many!?Www@QuestionHome@Com
