Question: Why do we generally like simple-minded people so much the more than the highly intelligent and clever people!?

There is something intrinsicly attractive about those less intellegent than us, perhaps we find it an interesting diversion from our normal fare!.

I am however reminded of something that I heard from a horse breeder once!. When you are trying to breed a champion thoroughbred you don't go out and find the best horse in the paddock because inveriably you will get a lower quality horse!. What you do is breed it with a horse that is of lesser 'quality', strangely when you breed an not too inferior horse with a superior horse you get a superior horse as a result!. I have also been told that this trend holds true for other animals like cats, dogs and even pigs!. It is possible that there is a instinctual drive to seek out a mate who is not on the same level as us so as to produce superior offspring, and as such we find it easier to be around those who are more simple minded than ourselves!. Just a thought!.

If your in a room with three really super intelligent people, and you're all adamantly talking about a subject!.
One is going to obviously out-do the others!.
This could create tension between the others and then inturn they attempt to out-do the first!.
Pretty soon you have a whole bunch of intelligent people trying to outsmart each other!.

I like both!. I greatly admire highly creative people and my friends are intellectuals who have a lot of interesting things to say!. I work for retarded adults, and they have their own quirky charms!. If they lie, it's about not taking the candy they weren't supposed to have!. Yes, it seems that we tend to feel better about our own level of intelligence when we are around folks who seem to us to be of a lesser level!. What a pity we don't recognize our own want of something better and go for that!. Socializing with those less intelligent than ourselves could be good for us as mentioned by the retired nurse above!. But I think we should lay aside our prejudice and associate with those folks of every level and all those that Providence places within our influence!. We all have an influence on each other whether it is for good or for evil!. May the good abound!
