Question: Are there truths in some lies!?
if so what are those lies called!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
Yes!. There are some truths in lies!. What the lie is called somewhat depends on the intention behind the lie!.

For example, the facts are that you and I went to the movies yesterday and I paid!.

1!. You later say that you and I went to the movies yesterday but you paid!. I would call that a semi or half truth!. It is true that you and I went out together; it is true that we went out yesterday; it is true that we went to the movies; but it is false, or a lie, about who paid!.

A semi truth is a twisting of the facts, or the change in one part of it!. Perhaps you intended so much to pay that you thought you had, or you simply forgot who paid, is that a lie!? It cerainly is not wholly the truth!. There is no intention behind it: just a lapse in memory and confusion of the facts!.

2!. Unlike a blatant or outright lie which is entirely false and contains no truth, and which is said with the intention of hurting someone, to avoid the responsibility of their action, or because of a psychological compulsive problem:
So you say: I happened to see her go into a cheap and sleezy hotel for a couple of hours with a guy I never saw before, or!.!. I didn't go out last night, I was home alone and went to bed early!.

3!. Or a white lie: which can be a blatant lie or half truth but is said with a nobler intention of protecting someone from a perceived punishment e!.g!. I went to the movies alone yesterday (because I know your family would enforce curfew on you)

But you really have to know the facts, and intention, to filter what is true and what is not in order to label it!. No wonder they say not everything is black and white, and truth is relative!Www@QuestionHome@Com

A lie is meant to deceive, but I think that there can be truth in lies whether intentional or not!. For example, a person may reveal themselves for what they really are in a lie - and this would be the truth!. Or they could mix the truth with lies!. As for what they are called!? I don't think there's any name for it!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

If I said "that red car over there has 20 mpg" and a red car IS over there but it has 30 mpg, then I just lied (but that car over there IS red - a truth)!.
I think your question may have been deeper than but my answer can probably be applied to anything!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

no because they wouldn't be considered lies anymore!. Sometimes you lie because you think that your protecting someone when really you're hurting them even more!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
