Familial Love i!.e!. for your parents or children - yes!. This type of unconditional love does not rely on respect!. You may not be proud of or respect the actions of these loved ones but you continue to love them all the same!.

Romantic love - No!. For me, romantic love rests on the four cornerstones of

Respect (respecting each others opinions and decisions even when you disagree and considering each other as at least your equal)

Trust (not just trusting them to be faithful, but trusting them with yourself in that they won't belittle you or make you feel uncomfortable or otherwise wilfully hurt you)

Companionship (being able to enjoy each others company, have fun together and interest each other!. To actually like the other person, not just admire or be infatuated by them)

and Attraction (you have to desire them, otherwise all the above is just friendship)Www@QuestionHome@Com

Not really!. I had a boyfriend years ago who always told me how very much he loved me blah blah blah, but he didn't respect me one little bit and just wanted to own me and rule my life!.

Yes! There could be love without respect just as there could be respect without love!. One may love a person but may not have a respect for the person as one who intrudes on one's privacy ---- just say for example: a personal cellphone!. A person may love her as a wife but may not respect her if she intrudes on the husband's personal thing that is considered very private personal thing as in this case --- his cellphone! There are things in life that should be given respect as it is only one left and remaining and that is -- privacy in one's life!.
