Question: Why is it than one who expresses extreme distaste for another's religious views is often called a “bigot” but
this standard is not usually applied to people who express an extreme distaste for another person's political views!? Is this a case of cognitive dissonance!? Why not consistency!?Www@QuestionHome@Com

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker:
"A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of opinions, lifestyles, or identities differing from his or her own!."

By that definition, you may well be a bigot for being intolerant of another's religious views, as may be those who are intolerant of another person's political views!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

YES!.

"PC" is for weak @$$-Holes!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Actually, I've never been called a bigot for having a distaste for religion!. I've been called a bunch of other things!.!.!. but not that!.
I've normally only heard that word in relation to those who discriminate against sexual orientation, skin color or gender!.Www@QuestionHome@Com

Let me start out with this!.

Bigot - One who is strongly partial to ones own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ!.

I think that cognitive dissonance might be strong language to use!. Politics have not just become a stance on the issues!. Now if you don't support the right Candide your a racist and or a feminist!. I think all parties are blinded by ignorance that allow themselves to be belittled into this!.

I suppose an example of this would the me being called a racist because I didn't like Barrack Obama!.!.!.!.I call it post GW bush disorder!. Everyone is blinded by this belief that they have to have it their was and they refuse to compromise on ANYTHING!Www@QuestionHome@Com
