Question: What do you think of this verse!? and what does it mean to you!?
I have asked questions about e-mail i recieve from a Bhikkhu in Sri Lanka before but this one is slightly different, it is a quote from the Sutta's which I think is quite famous!.
Make an island of yourself;
Make yourself into your lamp!
Make yourself your refuge;
There is no other refuge!.
Make the Dhamma your island,
Make the Dhamma your light!
Make the Dhamma your refuge;
There is no other safe haven!.
What are your thoughts about this Verse!?
here are my thoughts if you are interested, http://manapa!.multiply!.com/journal/item/!.!.!. It is also on my 360 blog but I have been having problems with getting it up so i've used my multiply blog!.

I am not a follower of your faith and I try to understand spiritual reading when I see it!. I had to find out what Dhamma is and it is a state of being!.

Essentially to me the two refrains speak at different levels, at least to me!. The first challenges man to be whole so much so that that he can be an influence for wholeness in the universe!. The second refrain repeats this as a state of being perhaps at a subconscious level with the same challenge!. But in the Dhamma you are your own safe haven in life!.

That's what I got out of it!. Nice web site!. Later!.Www@QuestionHome@Com
