Great question. Live as if you are alive and remembering. But why do you think that you are dreaming. is it because you know that death is upon us, and would rather just take your actions to the responsibility of something else. Look at how you actions affect the actions around you. Then take that power and harness it. You will not be dead, nor dreaming. But alive. Then take those actions and reflect upon them. Then you will be alive and remembering. For if you were dead you would also be dreaming not just reflecting. Dreams are just the practice of your fears. Do not fear life, take control.

First, you have to figure out whether there really is an "I", then determine the state of being. :o)

from religious perspective.. if you are dead you have no memory of this place and you don't require sleep anymore...
if you are alive...then you dream of what has already happened, what will happened and what is going on around you-according to predestination..
if you are atheist...you are dead and dreaming of life ...there is no after life -therefore you are dead to all existential possibilities...because there is nothing beyond the visual world...

If you are dead then you cant remember because you are dead, you are either alive and dreaming, alive and remembering or alive and living, You will never know!
