Yes, religions have been very addictive and pernicious institutions that divided Humanity into different and antagonistic points of view. Religion has been guilty for fomenting wars and smaller conflicts. Religion has been more powerful than States and more insidiously harmful.
Yes, When humankind discover that there is no god they are ready to make this a even better world.

I don't think so. Humans are naturally violent creatures. We would find something else to fight about. Though I doubt there would be as many suicide bombers. But I do like the idea of no more religion.

Total Peace? A laughable concept.

It is true that there are conflicts between religions, but that is only one of the many facets of conflict in humanity.

Wars have been fought for less noble causes, such as for greed, pride, hate, boredom, and many other human personality traits.

My opinion? There will never be complete and total peace until every sentient being in existance has their heads and hearts cut out and destroyed.

If you look into the true cause(s) for most wars, even so called religious wars like the crusades, religion wasn't the reason. It was usually either profit, dominance, or conquest for it's own sake.
