Position:Home>Philosophy> Do you take a beautiful starry night for granted?

Question:There is so much beauty all around us that is seemingly unnoticed. If we had to pay money to see the night sky I wonder if there would be a queue?

I'm sure there wouldn't be, people are too busy with their lives - they don't have time to look at something so insignificant as the sky!

I for one love my starry nights :) I live on a small island and at night there tend to be very few lights on, so I often sit in my balcony and lose myself in the stars (it's so easy isn't it?).

Nice question :)

Right on dude!!!

when the night is clear and you can see the millions of stars all i want to do is stop what i'm doing and lie down and watch the stars.

Astronomy is one of my favourite hobbies and I can't let a clear night go without looking at the stars. I think it's especially special because it's free. The stars are always up there for people to look at, they just have to lift their gaze.

do you know i do take it for granted.....which is sad because where i live if its a clear night the sky is so beautiful and clear....i do notice it from time to time but should pay more attention......my friend had never seen lightning before then she came to visit and she was like a little kid about it...

i would pay
the country night sky is sooo beautiful

There are always lines at the space/astronomy museum. Usually the city lights dimmed all the stars. I kinda like the moon more so because it is almost always visible. Just hope people do not appreciate nature for imaginary reasons...

(((?)))

Perhaps even better, what if it were forbidden to see the night sky...would curiosity then be piqued and millions of "law breakers" peep through windows in the dark of night or citizens skulk around in disguise as they sought vantage points to peek when no one was surveilling them? Like children, our attention is pulled to that which is labeled exotic or exciting, prohibited or dangerous. When restrictions are imposed our natural bent is to investigate, mull over, and move to the edge to peer into the dark abyss. Don't locked doors or hidden things stir up intrigue? After all, curiosity killed the cat, but satisfaction brought it back...or so it is said. Most people have fallen into a numbing pattern in their daily lives that is safe, decidedly uninteresting, and sadly stupefying...the senses have been dulled down, even dumbed down, for the sake of survival and its empty habit. People have become robotically programmed to the conditioning imposed upon them...and are unaware of the beauty that surrounds them. i, for one, never take beautiful moments of wonderment for granted...for i receive them as grace and enter fully into them. How more marvelous than to gaze into the innocence of a baby's eyes, or to penetrate the magnificent life force of a tree as it stands regally at ease in the forest, or to watch the flickering stars signal life's mysterious rhythm, the same rhythm that pulses through ourselves? The real wonder is to discover our connection to everyone and everything...beauty serves this purpose, for it pulls us into a communion of being to being. This communion speaks to us at a deeper level and reminds us of our own perfection and our oneness in the One.

i am Sirius

I wonder the same thing myself and I know that I can bypass the beauty that is around me. Thanks for reminding me to stay present. Great question.

Unfortunately, sometimes yes!
