Position:Home>Philosophy> Is it better to know alot about one thing or a little about everything?

Question:Knowing a lot about one thing entails knowing a little bit about everything. Fields of knowledge are not isolated - they overlap.

To gain a full and complete knowledge of chemistry, you have to learn some physics and will inevitably know some biology. You will also absorb some law and ethics, a smattering of ecology, and some insight into dyes and fabrics you can bring into the world of fashion. And so on and so on to places you might not even imagine when you start.

Exactly how little you know about other things depends on how narrow your focus is in the thing you know about and how determined you are at shutting them out. But there is always at least a little spill-over.

it's better to know people who know alot about 1 thing, then you can just call them and ask them when you need to know something in particular

a little about everything, that way you are well rounded, and not really smart in one area, but stupid about everything else.
