Most people dont even know what their dreams are. And some think they do but only realize later that they dont. Some people who do know their dreams lack the willpower or initiative to make it happen, to try. Some are so crippled with fear of failure that their inhibitions prevent them from trying.

fear of not being able to complete them, too wrapped up in daily b.s., not knowing how to go about starting the process

Most people do not get to live their dreams because they sacrifice their dreams in order to get somewhere in life. It is more difficult to follow your dreams today (as opposed to 50 years ago) because everything revolves around money, and the need to have money to live.

If more people changed from living to work, to working to live, you would find a lot more people being able to follow their dreams. The whole purpose behind getting a job or a career is so that you could do the things in life you want to ... that's all a job should be, not something that takes precedence over family, friends, relationships.

Hope this helps.

Some people, at their core, don't want to live their dreams. They are nice fantasies but the realities would not be as fun as they imagined. There is a lot of pressure living the dream life. They make excuses or put up their own barriers so that they can say they were robbed.
Truthfully, very few people would do well with celebrity lifestyles. The trick is to be honest with what we really need.
Many women want a good honest man and a quiet life to raise children they can love and nurture. This is not a politically correct goal for young women anymore. Very few would admit it, so they say they want to be a model or a celebrity. Nothing could be further from the truth.
Know yourself and it is much easier to find your dreams and live them.
This is just my opinion. No need to flame if your view is different.

Fear.

Because we are not smart enough to really know what we want. Most of us have passing fancies. What we want today, we have no use for tomorrow. Look around your house, your room. How many things do you see that at the time, you could not live without? How often do you use that item now? It is called mass marketing. We want more than we need. I love the lines from the Sheryl Crow song: Its not getting what you want but wanting what you got. Most of us have Champagne taste on a Beer budget, but we put off using our money for what we should and using it for what we want. I will tell you, the only dream I pray to live is keeping my health. No amount of money can buy that. Dreams are wonderful ways to keep us motivated, striving for the brass ring, etc. Dreams are fun, but would you really want to be on vacation for the rest of your life? Most people are where they want to be in life, believe it or not. Nobody's dreams work for someone else. Keep motivated, keep dreaming. You will find the one thing that really makes you happy and you can reach that goal if your really want it.

Sometimes it is fear and a feeling of worthlessness or lack of entitlement. Sometimes they aspire to high. Their dreams are maybe unrealistic. Often times they do not plan or make time to begin the first steps to the achievement of their dreams. Sometimes they may be too impatient. and/or unorganized. And sometimes life simply denys them the opportunity.

There are those who are not around long enough to even dream their dreams. Illness, war, etc. can be a deterrent. So perhaps we are lucky that we have the ability to imagine which in my opinion is just as pleasurable as any self applause or public accolades. Dreams are often the fulfilment of wishes.

I may not be clever enough to write a book but I can certainly read one.

many reasons.
Unreasonable expectations.
Lack of confidence
Lack of self esteem
Lack of oppertunity
Dreams that can never come true
Inturruptions......like marriage, children, etc
Depression
Lack of education
Poor choices
Taking the wrong road
Getting derailed
Physical , mental or medical limitations
Dreams get tucked back in the a corner of the heart.

Isaiah 55

1 WAIT and listen, everyone who is thirsty! Come to the waters; and he who has no money, come, buy and eat! Yes, come, buy [priceless, spiritual] wine and milk without money and without price [simply for the self-surrender that accepts the blessing].(1)
2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your earnings for what does not satisfy? Hearken diligently to Me, and eat what is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness [the profuseness of spiritual joy].(2)
3 Incline your ear [submit and consent to the divine will] and come to Me; hear, and your soul will revive; and I will make an everlasting covenant or league with you, even the sure mercy (kindness, goodwill, and compassion) promised to David.(3)
