Why do women in polygamy wear plain clothes?

Polygamists do not want their women to compete with each other, as the 'choice" is always up to the man. There can be no competition between the women as it might upset the delicate balance of having multiple wives.

Also, should the women dress in ways that flatter themselves, they are showing too much concern for their own desires--they are expected to be more concerned with the man's desires.

Trying to NOT look sexy, I recon.

The men dress the women like little girls because they like to be seen as a "FATHER" of their home, sick sh*t. Usually the women are handed over by their parents once they reach puberty anyways, and in a sense never grow-up in the westernized view of growing-up.

It is a modesty thing that is part of the religious and cultural belief system of most polygamous groups. The husband is the only one that should see them with their hair down. Long hair and keeping it bound up is also prevalent.
