If you are referring to balance in life which in turn represents the way in which one has garnered the many force that make up ones life. I find that once I have made the hard work (for me) required to achieve some sort of balance I find it even harder to stay balanced unless I take on a more forceful attitude of not wanting to fall behind to where I have to work so hard to catch up again. It is a lot easier to prevent myself from this but I'm kind of hard of head and don't get the idea so easily and backslide into my own lethargy at times.

Because it's hard to not to lean more toward what you enjoy.

It requires the inevitable self-mastery of the ear's semicircular canal.

it is because so tempting..
example.. to resist good food...the tendency to say no to good things.. especially food we like to have...tendency we take more than we should..
monopoly of power...hard to resist the privilege....getting in line.... like anybody else....but when you have the power.. can you resist the temptation ...i dont like to fall in line.. i like vip treatment.. a red carpet welcome... just to be privilege you have already distracted the concept of balance. balance ...
just pursuing the to get rich.. or winning a lottery.. you already disturb the wealth distribution balance..
balance is relevant issue.. it may not be relevant to you may be relevant to other...
it is judgement call....that is why is hard to acheive....

b/c when you want to achieve you might overdo it in what aspect which leads to imbalance again,
no one's life is perfectly balanced
