Is it necessary to leave a legacy?

i don't think we should be leaving anything behind but our knowledge. we should help the younger generations learn from our mistakes and be better than us. other than that everything else fades too. bloodlines die out and empires fall. all we are left with is the history of mistakes and triumphs.

we will all die. eventually.
thats a fact.
we will leave behind the influence that we had on the world.
it could be something as simple as motivating a child to work harder on his homework,
to something bigger, like an invention we present to the world.
