Question:Imagine you do not believe in life after death. If you strongly believe then don't answer this question.

So when your life ends, you turn to nothing. You will fear becoming nothing now, but that fear, along with other thoughts and feelings, will return to nothingness. People struggle to leave something behind in this world, like medals, children, skills etc. but what is the point? You wouldn't remember it. You wouldn't care. Even if someone appreciates your work that someone would turn to nothingness just like you. It is an inevitable common fate.

I would like you to try convincing me who cannot be convinced as i strongly believe it wouldn't matter if i recognize the meaning of "strongly" or "importance" or not.

I don't even know what i want you to convince me of. LOL

Right, it doesn't. IF one does not believe, then why does not believing concern in any way!0!

Good luck!

live your life in more posotive direction, then youll know if it works

I believe in oblivion. there is no afterlife I would want to remain in or life I would want to return to. Once is enough through this "Life". It means that I only get one trip to Disney and this is it. try to make the most of it then say goodbye forever. And I am good because I want to be good, not because I have to. And yes, I believe in God. But not one that non-Stoics would recognize. And Aristotle was a Stoic. So, whats the problem?

peace and love

if you live only to leave behind something of yourself, that is very vain!!
you live to help make this earth better for those who will inherit this planet after your energies have dissipated.
So what if we are just fertilizer or food for worms, if our actions on earth helped others or the earth herself, than that is worth it all. I don't want to leave my mark on this world, quite the opposite. I want to be one with it all helping repair the damage done by others before I go.
I do not fear nothingness, I welcome it.

ok my friend,
here is my response,
you are right,
it does not matter,
after a few generations, no one will remember you,
it's all for nothing,
But,
The question is “how do you want to live your life?”
I know that nothing really matters at the end,
Yet I am motivated,
I wanna study and get my degree,
I wanna find a nice girl and get married.
I wanna enjoy life and help others enjoy it too,
Just because we turn into ashes does not mean that life it's worthless,
i think life is pointless yet it's extremely beautiful,
you don’t need eternity to enjoy today!
Cheers

If there is no conscious life after death then we are no different than all the other plants and creatures existence here on this earth. All arguments for it would mean nothing. What astonishes me is that if this were a true statement then why isn't there more chaos int he world to show for it? Animals and plants are not accountable to any thing once they die. And this would be true for man as well. So why is man so well behaved enough not to destroy one another I think the answer is that enough of us are left on earth who believe in life after death that prevent total chaos from happening. Because it justifies us in punishing man and holding him accountable to us here. And it shows that we believe man is accountable to a higher power than man. And that if we do not do justice for the victims here, we as good people will be judged by that same power as to why we did not mete out justice of punishment to the bad person who broke the law.

That's what I think. Later.

First of all do you believe you have a soul or spirit or something like that ?

In death, the body disintegrates, and is returned to nature.

Putting souls and spirits aside as some people do not believe in them, there are still humanity, civilization, culture and philosophy. Those could be past on as a gift to the future. In that light, one would care enough for this gift to be appropriate and accepted by the person receiving it.

At the minimum, people climb Mt Everest just because it is there, just because they want to know if they could make the challenge, just because it is difficult but not impossible, just for fun while they are alive. So, why not?
