just to tease ya

Yes! -ive always wondered if time was trying to tell us something!

Because it wont do that again forever on that date/day/month/year.

All mechanical devices have dimensions and therefor subject to tolerance errors, it's called mechanical slop or deviation from the specs....The forces called friction, gravity, etc. cause this distraction to become apparent...

You know, I wondered that very thing before. I figured it was something about the gear mechanism, but maybe the second hand just didn't want to go on and constantly debates giving up or rebelling.

It must be the second part.

well, that's a question about mechanics, not philosophy. i suggest to open the clock and see for yourself.

that's pretty simple. there's a lock that holds the hand in position, stops it from moving while it is directed say to particular number. if not for the lock, the hand would have gone to 6 due to gravity. so, before moving the hand, the lock is released, which is visible in hand clicking backward, then the hand moves and the lock holds it again.

also there is more than one clock schematics. only few of these have the feature you describe.

good luck.
