Position:Home>Philosophy> Do you ever feel a profound love for everything?

Question:By this I mean everything at once and separately at the same time. Good, bad indifferent - those we think we love and those we think we don't? What we think we know and what we think we don't? It may sound crazy but can love be the motivation behind our every perception and concept including even the worst atrocities? It is curious to discover dimensions to love that make me feel I have never truly loved.

When we are at total peace with ourselves, we can forget our self and that is what is necessary to be able to love all and everything. It is our care and concern for self or pride and prejudice arising from self that makes us discriminate amongst various people and things as some we love the most, some others much less and yet some others absolutely not and not to forget those many that we hate or detest. It is the absence of self that makes love pure and all pervasive.

yes i do. we are all one and the same when it comes down to it.

Love can blind us in looking things, the thing that we see as horrible can be beautiful if we are blinded by love.
therefore it depends upon the person who is looking at it.

Love creates beauty and makes mans world beautiful ..

Of all the kinds of love, I believe that what you are describing is the closest to real love. (or I suppose that they are all real so I guess that I mean the most desireable)

Its not a new thought to think that love is like oxygen, it is invisible and yet pervasive and all around us. We breathe it in and it sustains us.

I have never felt a love for everything. It doesn't work that way for me

Yes, though more often than not ive been drunk at the time!

YES!!!

And I LOVE, and TREASURE that feeling! But, I don't need to be on DRUGS to FEEL that way!!!

When you can wake up, every day, and FEEL the LOVE, without the CRAP, then YOU ARE doing something RIGHT! But, if you feel NO emotions, then you are NOT there!

And I'm NOT going to PREACH! Someone ELSE can DO that! I don't have time for it!

Love is a life force. One definition attempting to be universally applicable is Thomas Jay Oord's: to love is to act intentionally, in sympathetic response to others, to promote overall well-being. This definition applies to the positive connotations of love.

I love the way the universe takes care of business. Even within mankind...though mostly from afar. People can be a little hard to love, up close and personal. So my answer is yes, I often feel a profound acceptance for everything. (I'm working on keeping that intact, even out and about amongst my fellow human beings.)

Nope. Can't say I've ever felt a love for child molesters. In fact, neither can I say I've felt a love for those who torture children for their own gratification. I can't say I felt any love for the terrorists who destroyed the world trade centers.
