Absolutely i see no reason why the test wouldn't be considered a valid method of testing whether or not a machine had intelligence. Unless there was a machine that could much more easily express thoughts through words rather then text. Probably not. I think a truly "intelligent" machine would have to be able to do more than just "talk" to someone. It would be pretty easy to create a program that responded or "chatted" with a person. And "intelligence" could be programmed, but I don't believe original thought or intention is possible. |
