Its primary purpose is to Kill, but its not that black and white, theres self defense, murder, manslaughter, non lethal shots etc..

Other then murdering, hunting, shooting, DANGER? Why...nothing.

it's a tool for self defense. Against people who decide to take your life, loves or property.

it depends. if you want to scare somebody only, to pistol whip someone, to look cool, to give you something to shoot and relieve stress, self-defense..

however, they are made and designed to kill organisms. mainly animals and people.

Since time immemorial, man has always found the need to feed and defend themselves with a weapon of some sort. So a gun is simply one of the modern technologies we apply to defend ourselves. By the way, in military jargon, a gun is an artillery piece, your rifle or pistol is not.
As man is quite adaptive, we have also found ways to use our "weapons" for recreation.
