Position:Home>Philosophy> Why don't the Liberals see that the world would be an evil place without war

Question:All of the good in the world has come from fighting and defeating evil forces and ideas.
There would be no USA without war, What if Hitler was not fought to the death - what would the world be like then.
To have a society worth living in you sometimes have to be willing to fight and die to protect it.
Your enemies are always willing to die to defeat good.....

I am not sure it is a pretty place with war either...plenty of examples to choose from...

...Because we don't live in an insane asylum.

I've studied history professionally for well over a decade, and I think I can say with authority and credibility that the very opposite is true. Using your own argument: the fact is that there would have not been any Adolph Hitler or Fascism if NOT for war, specifically World War I. That's really basic world history, my friend. You don't have a leg to stand on.

I'm a liberal and I know that war is inevitable and I'm glad that we fought to be Americans and what not, I just don't love war and I don't think that the reasons for going into war should be as weak as, "well we need to liberate people". I mean come on...if that's our motto there are a billion other places that need "liberating" left to go.

Maybe they have had to welcome home the shattered, empty body of one of their children.

The keys here are "sometimes" and "die to protect". Unfortunately, in Iraq we are losing great Americans but we are not protecting America while doing so.

are you currently serving in any branch of the military? well I did my 20 years to protect our freedom. what have you done. you certainly haven't lifted a single finger to get your facts straight or even opened up a book on what actually happens in a war to the people who have nothing to do with what is going on. You also have such an incredible lack of any kind of imagination that you cant even imagine what it could be like if we solved our problems in other ways.

born from an evil mentality... Bush today is using hitlers hand book... Canada and other countries are born without war .... the US has a lot to learn about peace... Born in war can't see beyond the need for it...

Since WWII can you name how many 3rd world countries the US has been at war with? These are conflicts over resources for corporate interests, no matter how much propaganda they try to throw out about fighting for freedom. I'd guess the answer to be fifteen.

Look, if we were to apply to ourselves the same laws that we applied against the Nazis during the Nuremberg trials after World War II, then all our postwar presidents would have to be executed.

in the 2 years i have been participating in the yahoo! answers forum, your "question" and i use that term loosely, is, without a doubt the most ignoble example of ignorance i have ever come across. war is always, only about $. the so-called "reasons" for them are manufactured by those with an invested interest in the outcome, used to hook the common man into doing the actual fighting, and killing, and raping, and stealing.

my apologies to the rest of the yahoo! community for my harsh response. i know that everyone has a right to their own opinions but this kind of hateful, self-gratifying, shooting off at the mouth really gets to me.

nuff said.
