Most people are interpreting this question as having to do with metaphysical reality.

But I wonder how much of what I perceive is in my head, because of COGNITIVE BIAS. You know, wishful thinking, fearful thinking, attentional bias.

So much of what we think is wrong, because we are lying to ourselves.

(People who say "reality is what you perceive" must have never tripped and fallen.)

theres a saying that comes to mind

"be yourself becuase the people that matter dont mind and the people that mind dont matter"

yes, i always do, especially after talking a philosophy class. we read a theory about how we all might be just brains hooked up to machines a la matrix. then a new york times article talked about how it's more probable for there to be a universe of just brains than a universe with stars, galaxies, etc., because simpler things are easier to make, and a brain is easier to make than a universe. so strange... but yeah, i think after watching the matrix, many of us wondered about your question...

No.I am aware. And nothing is in my head!

Your perception is your reality.

Everything you perceive is in you head. It is not the event but your perception of an event is how you relate to the world. You can choose how you respond to anything in your environment. Seeing might be: " I see a tree". It is just a blank visual awareness. Perceiving determines how you react or think about "the tree". You could choose to be afraid, judge, love, rage or whatever at that tree based on how you perceive it. Now if you can shift how you perceive anything in your world, you are in charge of your emotions. Then you can manifest anything you want in the world!

Think about perception.?Yes.Everyone has a varying outlook on life/things according to many factors, gentic, background, personality, social influences, media influences etc, but I consider this.... that if my perception is negative, then I will react to a situation poorley or it if happens to be positve at that moment my reaction will be one of certainy...as perception is often coupIeled with a strong emotional attachment...I think our perception can alter depending on our mood, our health and our way of life...but I believe that we all share a common factor.....perception is a state of mind..and can be altered if we allow that sense, insight and knowledge of our world.....become wider....learning to alter our perception can often make a situation that is difficult, less of a hurdle to jump... but then this is just my opinion...

Of course it's in my head but I don't wonder about it. No.

all the time... then once in a while I look out at the world to see what exactly does exist....

Stop codding yourself. It's all in your head until the day you're told you have a fatal illness. Becomes real after that. However you percieve it, it is real. Confine it to your head, that's your loss.

Seen the movie "The Matrix"---asks the same question. Weird huh?

The mind sees not what the rest of the body shows it, but what it sees through the rest of the body. The mind sees not colors... hears not sounds... feels not sensations... but takes the core of these things and creates wonderful or horrible sensations from them.

As my favorite philosophy of my own goes,
"What we perceive is but a splinter of the minds eye."

All of what we perceive is in our heads. We receive info. through imperfect senses that are filtered through an affective filter, an emotional filter made up of our life experiences. That is our reality. What reality really is, I suppose we don't know. Go figure.

All of what we perceive is just in our head. My color green looks at least a little bit different than your green, so to speak.

That is true. And it's good to know that you have a lot of real people that are not in your head reply to your question. So it's safe to say that whatever is in our head most of the time is real so we'd better life it. What we have is the power of choice to either have a positive or negative attitude with my perception when dealing with life. Later.

Perception is everything in life. It is what makes you you...It doesn't make you right all the time but it molds the person you are becoming day by day.
