they already have nets like that all over the world. Usually just a hundred meters out from the beach.

Wouldn't the sharks just chew right through the net?

Let's see, sharks have been around for how many millions of years? Humans for what, 50k? 100k? And humans are entering their territory, the water, for which we are ill adapted.

I'm guessing the sharks will continue to win.
