A better question is when do you stop knocking on one door and try a different one. How many times should you knock? For how long should you knock on the same door. There may be no one home.

Perseverance can accomplish many things. Not only can you get things done by persvering, you also learn a lot and have a variety of experiences on your way to accomplshing your goal. Mainly you can learn a lot about yourself. As others have told you, the Bible advises you to persevere and there's that old saying, "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again."
If your goal is worth while it's worth pursuing, but there's no guarantee of success. So, maybe the door won't be opened, but how will you know if you don't try and try again?

Continuing is useless. The Universe isn`t stupid nor deaf.
It is however of prime importance that you open your door. I mean at least unlock the bloody thing to allow the Universe to deliver. It is fine to update your requests as the details change but you also need to check and see if there are contradictory thoughts or beliefs in your data base. All resistance is counter-productive and will hold up your delivery.
