I do not recall that analogy.

Searching my notes, the nearest I get to anything about the senses is the passage I have transcribed as my source. But it is very different from what you describe.

There is every chance that the passage you're describing is in there somewhere, but didn't grab my attention when reading sufficiently to wind up in my notes.

This really depends on your understanding of God. The smell of roses, the greening of grass, the sound of music and the feeling of a lovers caress could all indicate a close and personal God all around you. Finding an anthropomorphic dude on a cloud will prove disappointing in this and all future lives.
