Position:Home>Philosophy> What if, you think you are doing the right thing???? But some people?

Question:do not think so.example 60% v, 40%.....Shouldn't you do what you FEEL is right? If you find out later, you made a mistake, like we all do...can't you ask for FORGIVENESS with God? It is sorta like a CATCH 22...anyway.

There are no guarantees that what you think will work out will work out. Trying to make your decisions by committee doesn't increase your chances of getting it right.
Living to please others lacks a certain integrity as you are choosing to please rather than follow your own moral compass.
There are no guarantees that others will be happy with what we decide. There are always consequences to our actions.
We want to do as we please but also insist that no one be mad. Part of growing up is realizing that that is a childlike dream. You need to know in your own heart that you are doing what is right and not just what you crave. Would you be happy if your child was making the same choice you are about to make (when they are your age)?
Of course God can forgive but if you are already asking this question then I think you still need to face the moral correctness of what you are trying to rationalize.
Be straight with yourself and do what you would be proud to one day tell your child. Make a choice you are willing to stand by and have written in the record books of your life.

Good luck to you and a blessed life. Report It

  • You need to ask if you are trying to coerce or harm another person, or harm another being. Then you need to look at why you think it's the right thing. If someone else did it, would you think they were doing the right thing? What about the results, if and when someone else did do it? What are the short and long term goals, and likely results?

Forgiveness from yourself is much harder to get than the forgiveness of God. So tread carefully.

    A) there is no god
    b) ask youself if you had spoken out against slavery? well more than 60% of the people in the south would have told you you were crazy and dangerous. Is it right?
