Position:Home>Philosophy> Does randomness lead to creativity?

Question:I'd give one of my mind-blowing responses, but I've decided to stop yahoo from stealing my thoughts, so I'll just say yes, and it's extremely redundant, but also amusing.

being alone and bored is probably the best response. I'll leave the transition up to you. It also helps to drink massive amounts of coffee and yell at things for no reason.

I also enjoy making up nonsense songs about various objects in my pockets, which I find to be very entertaining. Somehow that eventually translates into one of my papers. But don't ask me how that works.

Randomness can bring up elements that probably wouldn't have been considered in another fashion. However to create something implies to organize its elements in such a way that something new is born. Even though this organization could be achieved through a random process some basic parameters should be established at some point.

Creation is original artistic production...being random could only be a coincedence.

i think it does. if its in a good way of course.

It's a necessary, but not sufficient, condition. You need SOME focus and aim to the randomness. You need to keep coming back to the central idea or problem, and then wander away and then back again.Law of Seven. The tree branches, in various directions, but cannot leave the main trunk or branch.

Not if each segment of your randomness has already been done. Then you are a copy cat.
