Position:Home>Philosophy> What is it about a heart felt hug that makes us feel so good?

Question:How does it transcend thought and words when we give/receive. Is there a better way of breaking down barriers or do hugs make you feel uncomfortable. I'd really love to hear your thoughts.

i am longing for your hug!

The warmth of it's love, because the one who gives such a hug is opening his or her heart to you in a way that is sacred.

When the one who hugs you is one of the special people in your life, it is a heavenly feeling as to know that they care...

there are probably some questions that should not or perhaps that dont need to be answered, just glory in the huginess of it all

There's probably no explanation..it's just all so natural and amazing :)

Our bodies thrive on contact with other people. Physical stimuli creates chemical reactions that make us feel good and sets off a whole chain of positive results.
Years ago a study was done on preemies....all were given good medical care, proper nutrition, healthful environment. To one group, physical contact was added, rocking, stroking, etc. The group that had lots of interaction with the nurses was more resistant to diseases, gained weight faster and developed faster in learning and body movement.
Don't be stingy with your hugs, they're precious gifts!

that differance between that and a hug of unspoken words

The joy of belonging, and the receiving of love, expressed in gesture,,,by touch, and confirmed by srength.

It's a literal heart to heart, spirit to spirit, and our hearts communicate their loving care better than these thinky brains of ours.

Well one time I met this man that I admired and I gave him a hug squeeze and he hugged back...it was a nice feeling I am not the type to just hug so easily hehehe.....but I can't explain the feeling it just happened so naturally to hug him and he hug me back :)) I remember how I felt when he hugged me back :)))) I felt validated and loved ans special hehehe :)) awww I am such a romantic :)))

My mere words wont do justice, to what a hug can do.
Allow me to share an example of the power of a hug.
The first time I went to an AA meeting, I felt defeated, and emotionally bankrupt.
As I walked in, all sorts of people were walking up to me and shaking my hands and welcoming me, but this one lady came up to me, as if she could see inside my soul and gave me something, that I didnt even know myself at the time, I needed so badly...She gave me a hug, and whispered in my ear..."It's alright now, your safe and we have all been there" (I get teary eyed just thinking about it)
Now, I dont believe that if she would have said the exact same thing without the hug...it would have had the same impact.
She shared her strength, her hope, her faith, her Love...with that Hug...
I gotta go out and hug someone now!!
I just gotta!!
LOL and Peace

feeling close to someone, like they understand and care, and wont judge you.

Heart "felt" is exactly what happens in a hug...we embrace and thought stops for that moment as our hearts touch (both literally and in a metaphysical sense) and open to one another. Two become one for the length of the hug...unseparated in consciousness. Duality is transcended and the Loop of Love is entered.

It shows someone loves and cares for them. Everyone wants to love and be loved. When you are loved you feel special and that you belong here.

Touch is very important for human health. The body often makes us feel separate from our fellow humans. A hug reminds us that we are not separate, and we are not alone.
